About The Trainer
Terry Popish
My name is Terry Popish and I have lived in the Portola area for over 50 years. I have owned and trained dogs my whole life. I started training dogs for competition in 1990 and have been training and showing ever since. I have 30 years of training and showing experience with a variety of different dog breeds. My current dogs are a rescued Saint Bernard adopted from The Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation and a Landseer ECT.
​ I have extensive experience with rescued dogs-I am the Founder and Developer of High Sierra Animal Rescue located in near Portola, Ca. A Non-Profit No-kill Animal Shelter (the first one in Northern California).
​ I started a Pet Therapy Program in Portola during the 1990'S and became a Certified Delta Society Evaluator and Trainer. I had 2 Certified Delta Society Therapy Dogs that worked at local hospitals for 8 years.
​ I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen (all levels) and S.T.A.R. Puppy evaluator. I have been testing dogs for their CGC for the past 10 years. I am also a Animal Care Specialist and certified by The American Red Cross in Dog First Aid.
I am also registered with the American Kennel Club as an Mentor for their New Exhibitor Mentoring Program.
​ I have been an instructor of Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Obedience (Open & Utility Levels), Rally (all levels) and agility for Truckee Meadows Dog Training Club for the past 5 years. I am currently teaching classes in Graduate Novice/Open and Graduate Open/Utility. I have given public seminars in Tracking and Carting and act as Judge in Obedience and Rally classes for practice trials and AKC OB Matches.
Currently I compete with my 2 dogs in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Carting (Draft Dog) Trick Dog, Tracking & Nosework.
​ I have been a member of Truckee Meadows Dog Training Club for20 years and I have served as Webmaster, Vice-President, Awards Committee Chairman, past Board Member and Fundraising Chairman. I am also a longtime member of The Saint Bernard Club of America.

Snowy Pine Ranch is located on 15 wooden acres. We have a large grassy fully fenced area for training, fully fenced Agility Ring with sand footing, AKC Regulation Equipment and lots of additional land for other training such as scent work and carting.
We also have a fully enclosed indoor training area for use during bad weather.
We are fully equipped for training in Agility, Obedience, Rally, Carting (Draft Work), Scent/Nose Work, Tracking and swimming.
We also have kennels for your dog to rest and get a drink of water during breaks or while waiting for your class.
